"It’s a sad day for the students of Union County; the community has made the decision not to increase revenue locally through a school occupational tax. We are going to be forced to make decisions that will have a significant impact on our students. In January, we will begin the strategic planning process to determine priorities for next school year as we move forward with a continued shortfall in revenue. We are truly thankful for the support shown by nearly 43% of the voters who cast a favorable vote to support our schools. We know that now, more than ever, we will have to rely on our community partners to help us continue offering valuable programs and services for our students. At UCPS, we have an excellent staff who are called to this noble profession to make a difference in others' lives. We remain committed to doing whatever it takes to provide the best education we can for our students."
