Dolly Parton Celebrates Statewide Coverage of Imagination Library

Dolly Parton made a visit to Kentucky this week to celebrate the expansion of her Imagination Library into every county in the state! She met with representatives from local Imagination Library programs to share the importance of continuing to grow the program. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library provides a free book each month to children from birth to age 5. The goal of the program is to spark a love for reading and improve early literacy skills in preschoolers.

Union County is proud to be one of 124 local programs across the state. The Union County Imagination Library has been in operation for over 20 years and has reached over 3,000 total participants in that time. There are currently 485 Union County children receiving books each month through the program.

Evan Jackson, UC Imagination Library coordinator, and Christin Jackson, a UC Preschool reading interventionist, were able to represent Union County at yesterday’s event and learn best practices for the program.

We thank Dolly for her vision and all the generous donors who make the program possible! To register your child for the Union County Imagination Library, click here.
