On Saturday, UCHS sophomore Tristan Coy became the first Union County boys runner in 22 years to earn a medal at the KHSAA State Cross Country Championships! Tristan placed 15th out of 260 runners in the Boys Class 2A race, earning a spot on the podium with the top 15 placers. On the challenging 5K course (3.1 miles) at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Tristan finished with a time of 17 minutes, 14 seconds.
Head cross country coach Dustin Alsbrooks reflected on Tristan’s path to becoming a state medalist. “Tristan's tireless commitment to his sport is evident in his remarkable journey from starting this sport in 1st grade to being a top contender at the State Meet. Through the countless hours of training and perseverance, his pursuit of excellence has been nothing short of inspirational.”
